About The Project
Return to Detroit holidays gone by, in a televised tribute to the famous Hudson’s Department store, and their lasting holiday legacy!
The Hudson’s Department store was the beating heart of downtown Detroit, serving tens of thousands of guests every year, and the home of countless jobs. This legendary store touched the lives of every Michigander for over a century. A major landmark of the midwest, and Detroit’s home for the holidays. If you have a love for Hudson’s, a history with the famous building, or some life-long holiday memories you’d like to share, we want to hear them!
Started by Hudson’s, the Thanksgiving parade has been a holiday tradition in Detroit for 98 years. The parade first rolled down Woodward Avenue in 1924, the same year that Macy’s began its parade in New York City. We’d love to hear what stories you have to tell about this essential Detroit Holiday tradition! Old stories, new ones, we want to capture what it is that makes our parade so special!
With this special broadcast, Detroit Public Television is taking viewers back in time, to hear familiar stories, and to reinvigorate Detroit’s holiday spirit. To return older viewers to a familiar home, and introduce a new generation to the special feeling of Hudson’s after Thanksgiving with this festive “Hudson’s Holiday” documentary.
